Brenda Gatherall
Brenda Gatherall is currently on faculty at St. Bonaventure’s College in St. John’s where she teaches classroom/choral music for Grades K-6. She is a graduate of the MUN School of Music and holds undergraduate degrees in Music and Music Education as well as a Master’s degree in Education. Brenda is a founding member of Lady Cove Women’s Choir ,a longtime member of the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra (almost 30 years) and she also teaches in the Faculty of Education at Memorial University.
Brenda has completed advanced studies in Orff Schulwerk as well as instrumental conducting and has been invited to present at the Pan Canadian Think Tank on Music Education as well as the International Society of Music Education conferences. A very committed supporter of the arts community in NL, Brenda volunteers with the Rotary Music Festival organizing committee as well as The Singing Network. She is also been a faculty member at the MUN Junior Band Week as a clarinet instructor, the Atlantic Canadian Suzuki Institute as a piano accompanist/choral director and Theatre St. John’s as a choral conductor. Brenda has also been awarded the Royal Conservatory of Music Teacher of Distinction award for Atlantic Canada and her students have also achieved the highest marks in Atlantic Canada in their RCM exams.
Brenda has a passion for working with children and currently teaches Music for Young Children (MYC) classes as well as private piano, clarinet, saxophone and music theory lessons.
