Shallaway Youth Choir nets gold, silver and bronze at world competition

THIRD PLACE OVERALL and a GOLD MEDAL for Shallaway in the gospel category and SILVER MEDAL in contemporary music!

Our Newfoundland and Labrador youth have made us so proud! The first choir from this province to make it to the Seghizzi Choral Competition Grand Prix. They sing amongst the best choirs in the world! They’ve made incredible friendships, heard exceptional musicians from all over the world and have learned the value of excellence, artistry and putting your whole heart and head into rehearsals and performances. Congratulations to all the musicians in Shallaway’s Camerata, artistic director Kellie Walsh, collaborative pianist Leslee Heys, and associate director Jennifer Hart- they are one of 6 choirs selected by adjudicators as the best – regardless of age or genre from the world! These future leaders have concerts in Venice, Florence and Rome next. They’ll be singing a full mass at St. Peter’s Basilica and the Canadian Embassy.
